Qualifications awarded by LCCIEB are recognised by a wide variety of organisations/institutions throughout the world. Sometimes this recognition is local, for example when a particular country accepts certain certificates/diplomas for its own national purposes. Recognition may alternatively be international, for example when a candidate obtains an LCCIEB qualification in one country and uses it to gain university admission (or credits) in another country. LCCIEB is constantly updating its recognitions and is currently undertaking a worldwide review so that a complete list of international recognitions may be available to our Centres and candidates in the near future.

For up-to-date information on LCCIEB recognitions please refer to the LCCIEB website at www.lccieb.org.uk where recognitions of LCCIEB are regularly updated.

2 LCCIEB qualifications and HE

LCCIEB qualifications are used by students who wish to enter Higher Education in, for instance, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the USA, as well as in the UK. There are 3 major uses to which the qualifications can be put:

2.1 Second Level certificates can be equated with GCE O-Level/GCSE and Third Level Certificates with GCE A-Level, for the purpose of providing evidence of a suitable general educational background for those who aspire to university study.

2.2 LCCIEB certificates/diplomas can be accepted by particular university faculties as evidence of a suitable background in professional studies (eg accounting, economics, marketing).

2.3 An LCCIEB qualification can serve as evidence of English language competence.

3 General and professional qualifications in the UK

LCCIEB qualifications are prescribed public examinations within the terms of the Education Reform Act 1988 as set out in Statutory Instrument 1989 No 377 The Education (Prescribed Public Examinations) Regulations 1989 published by Her Majesty s Stationery Office. They are therefore a valued part of the British educational and employment system and recognised as such by the Department for Education and Employment.

The Board is confident that all British Universities will give due consideration to LCCIEB certificates/ diplomas, particularly when presented by overseas students who have restricted access to GCSE and A-Level examinations.

NB Candidates usually need to pass the EFB/EFC Oral examination at Third Level in order to be accepted by UK universities as satisfying English Language requirements for entry.

Aberdeen	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third level as satisfying EnglishLanguage requirements for entry. Will also acceptLCCIEB Third Level subjects qualifications as supplementary evidence to other academic qualifications
Anglia Polytechnic	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third level as satisfying English Language requirements for entry. The University is happy, in principle, to consider applications from students holding appropriate LCCIEB qualifications and in particular Third Level Single Subject Certificates for admission to related degree programmes of study. In particular this relates to the University s degree programmes in Business and also Computer Science and information Systems, where numerical subjects would be particularly well regarded.
Aston	Will accept Credit passes at Third Level in subjects appropriate to the courses to be followed and EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English Language requirements for entry. The Aston Business School is willing to consider applicants holding relevant Third Level certificates for entry to their undergraduate programmes.
Bath	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying Englishlanguage requirements for entry. Will accept also SEFIC at Third/Fourth Level provided that it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. Will consider holders of Third Level Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Bournemouth	Will accept SFIC at Third/Fourth Level provided it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. Will consider applicants with other LCCIEB English qualifications on a case-by-case basis. Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Bradford	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will accept also SEFIC at Third/Fourth Level provided that it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. Will accept 3 Third Level Single Subject Certificates with credit passes as fulfilling entry requirements to degree courses if accompanied by a Second Level Certificate in Maths.
Brighton	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will accept also SEFIC at Third/Fourth Level provided that it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Brunel	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications on a case-by-case basis. Will accept 3 credit level passes at Third Level as fulfilling the entry requirements to degree courses if accompanied by Second Level passes in Maths and English. The subjects at Third Level must be appropriate ones.
Central England (Birmingham)	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Central Lancashire (Preston)	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English Language requirements for entry and is willing to consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
De Montfort (Leicester)	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Dundee	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will also accept SEFIC at Fourth Level provided that it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Durham	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Durham Business School	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
East London	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Edinburgh	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Essex	Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Exeter	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Glamorgan	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Glasgow	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications on a case-by-case basis and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis but does not consider them sufficient to fulfil entry requirements in themselves.
Heriot-Watt	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English Language requirements and is willing to consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Hertfordshire	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Huddersfield	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will accept also SEFIC at Third/Fourth Level provided that it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Hull	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications on a case-by-case basis and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis depending on suitability of subject and level of pass.
Humberside	Will accept Second and Third Level Certificates as GCSE and A-Level equivalents for admission to the Graduate Secretary Degree Course. Appropriate recognition is also accorded to Group Secretarial qualifications.
Kingston	Will accept Third Level Certificates/Diplomas as partially fulfilling the entry requirements to the BA Degree course in Accounting and Finance if adequate evidence of ability in Maths and English can also be demonstrated, preferably accompanied by evidence of wider post-GCSE study, eg A-Level in Maths or Economics.
Lancaster	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will accept also SEFIC at Fourth Level provided that it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. The University welcomes applications from applicants holding Third Level Certificates/ Diplomas in subjects appropriate to the degree course for which they are applying.
Leeds Metropolitan	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will accept also SEFIC at Third/Fourth Level provided that it is supplementary to another qualification in written English. Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Leicester	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry to undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. Will also accept SEFIC at Fourth Level if accompanied by a qualification in written English The University is prepared to consider applicants holding Third Level Single Subject Certificates in relevant subjects. In addition, the Faculty of Social Sciences will consider passes in the following Third Level subjects for potential entry into the various BA degrees offered: Accounting, Advanced Business Calculations, Advertising, Auditing, Business Information Systems, Business Statistics, Commerce and Finance, Commercial Law, Cost Accounting, Economics, European Union, Law and its Terminology, Management Accounting, Marketing, Principles of Management.
Liverpool	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
London	Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on the External Programme on a case-by-case basis but only in the case of mature students and in combination with other studies and/or relevant experience.
London, South Bank	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
London, University College	Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis but only in the case of mature students and in combination with other studies and/or relevant experience.
Loughborough	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Luton	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Manchester Metropolitan	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Manchester	The Accounting and Law faculty will consider applicants with relevant LCCIEB qualifications for entry on a case-by- case basis. Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry.
Middlesex	Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Napier	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Nene College, Northants	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will also accept SEFIC at Fourth Level if accompanied by a qualification in written English. Willing to consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis: mature students only.
New College, Durham	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Willing to accept Third Level Single Subject Certificates for entry to HND courses in Business and Finance.
Newcastle	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Northumbria	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Willing to consider relevant Third Level Single Subjects as equivalent to A-Levels for entry to specific Business School courses.
Nottingham Trent	Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis, when accompanied by IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 550 in English Language.
Paisley	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Plymouth	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis. Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will also accept SEFIC at Fourth Level if accompanied by a qualification in written English.
Portsmouth	Will accept relevant Third Level Single Subject Certificates as equivalent to A-Levels for entry purposes.
Queen Mary and Westfield College	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Reading	Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates for entry on a case-by-case basis.
Robert Gordon (Aberdeen)	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications on a case-by-case basis especially if accompanied by other qualifications in written English and will accept holders of relevant Third Level Single Subject Certificates for entry to the Diploma in Management Studies.
St Andrew s	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Salford	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Sheffield	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will also accept SEFIC at Fourth Level if accompanied by a qualification in written English. Will accept relevant Third Level Certificates/Diplomas as fulfilling the entry requirements for courses run by the Management School.
Southampton	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis. Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. Will also accept SEFIC at Fourth Level if accompanied by a qualification in written English.
Staffordshire	Will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis. Stirling Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by- case basis.
Strathclyde	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Sunderland	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Surrey	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.

Ulster	Will accept EFC at Third Level as satisfying the English Language requirements and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
UMIST	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. For Management and Computational BSc courses, will accept: 3 Third Level awards at Credit Level or above plus EFB/EFC Third Level plus Mathematics Second Level
Wales, Aberystwyth	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will also consider holders of LCCIEB Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Wales, Bangor	Will accept EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Wales, Lampeter	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Wales,,Swansea	Will consider applicants with LCCIEB English qualifications as satisfying English language requirements for entry on a case-by-case basis and will accept holders of one Third Level single subject in addition to 2 A-Levels or equivalent.
Warwick	Will accept English for Commerce with Credit to satisfy English language requirement and is willing to consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Westminster	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying the English Language requirements and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
West of England (Bristol)	Will consider EFB/EFC at Third Level as satisfying English Language requirements for entry and will also consider holders of Third Level and Fourth Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
Wolverhampton	Will accept EFB/EFC at Second or Third Level as satisfying English language requirements for entry. York	Will accept EFB at Third Level as satisfying the English Language requirements and will consider holders of Third Level Single Subject Certificates on a case-by-case basis.
